The Adventure Fund 2015 Winner

We’ve had some amazing expeditions proposed to us for this year’s The Adventure Fund – with a huge amount of applications covering many different disciplines for expeditions across the entire world. Needless to say, the judging process was a long and difficult path but we’re now really pleased to announce the result.

The 2015 winning adventurer is Alienor le Gouvello who is planning a solo horse trek along the Bicentennial National Trail, a 5330km route that runs the length of the rugged Great Dividing Range, passing through 18 of Australia’s National Parks and more than 50 state forests.

Only 35 people since the conception of the trail in 1988 have completed the trail from start to finish and only two women. And if that wasn’t hard enough, she intends to do all this assisted by three captured wild horses from the Guy Fawkes River National Park.

Alienor’s journey will take approximately eight to ten months to complete, traversing some of the wildest, most remote territory in the world and we simply can’t wait to see how her journey will unfold. Alienor now has her wild horses and is only a few weeks away from starting to train them in advance of the expedition. We’ll be bringing you regular updates directly from Alienor over the next few months.

Our huge thanks goes to everybody who submitted an application. If you weren’t successful please don’t let it put you off; the applications were all for some fantastic trips and we seriously want to hear how you get on with each and every one of them.

Finally, for those of you already looking ahead, scheming and dreaming, an application form for the 2016 award can be found on www.theadventurefund.com.
