A Print Update

A Print Update

Plans for the first Sidetracked printed journal have been progressing well. Research, and content curation has been underway for some time. We’ve been finding the best independent journeys and expeditions to tell you about, working on new stories and meticulously editing. We’re currently looking at various international distribution options in addition to online ordering and working on ways of getting the first edition out to as wide an audience as possible.

Entering into the independent print world has been a steep learning curve, but each step has been hugely enjoyable and is moving towards our vision to create, and present, the most beautiful and unique collection of stories possible. To support our progression, we’ve looked to expand our team with some specialist expertise.

Earlier in January, we travelled to a quiet country pub in the Cotswolds to meet up with one of the world’s leading expedition and adventure photographers, Martin Hartley. Martin has joined the Sidetracked team as Director of Photography and brings with him years of experience of documenting the most inaccessible places on earth. His knowledge, enthusiasm and ruthlessly high standards will ensure that Sidetracked consistently provides creative and artistic style as well as substance in everything it does.

Long time supporter of our online work, Alastair Humphreys is now an Ambassador for Sidetracked. Alastair is a British adventurer and author. He was named as National Geographic Adventurer of the Year and is the pioneer of the microadventure concept. His work to inspire and encourage people to explore the world or something closer to home encapsulates the spirit of Sidetracked and we’re delighted to welcome him to the team.

Things are coming together quickly. Whilst we’re not going to be detailing the content just yet (more on that very soon), we think we have something very special on our hands. Provisionally we’re looking at a release date of the end of March with pre orders becoming available earlier that month.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates.
