Secret Compass hosts an Audience with Adventure, part of the Kendal Mountain Festival 2015 Film Tour.
This May 21 in London, expedition company Secret Compass hosts its inaugural Audience with Adventure, part of the Kendal Mountain Film Tour, in aid of Joshua Orphan and Community Care, Malawi. The evening features a selection of award-winning films selected from Kendal’s 2014 highlights plus an onstage Q&A with some of the industry’s finest, compered by filmmaker, writer and micro-adventurer Alastair Humphreys.
The Kendal Mountain Festival has a reputation for being the world’s best-known mountain film festival, showcasing the best international action and adventure films from across the globe. Secret Compass’s new twist on the tried and tested film night format is the addition of a compered panel section featuring three brilliant adventurers, selected for their varying and diverse experiences in the world of adventure.
THE PANEL
Between films the panel will be talking about their past, present and upcoming adventures and will be answering all those pressing questions about adventures big and small, specific and general, big budget and free.
Dan Milner: Photographer
Dan is a professional mountain and adventure photographer with a penchant for shooting masochistic bike, snow or ‘just-for-the-hell-of-it’ expeditions. He worked on Forgotten Dirt – Afghanistan’s first MTB film. Dan’s shot with some of the snow and bike world’s most legendary names and his pioneering trips have given him a reputation for pushing snowboarding and mountain biking into more adventurous realms.
Ants Bolingbroke Kent: Author
Author, TV producer and adventurer Ants has a particular love of wandering alone through remote regions. Her latest book, A Short Ride in the Jungle, recounts her solo motorcycle journey down the remnants of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Ants has also driven a tuk tuk from Bangkok to the UK, ridden a zebra-print motorcycle around the Black Sea and and nearly frozen to death whilst attempting to reach the Russian Arctic on an old Ural motorcycle.
Jamie Berry: Walking the Nile Series Producer
Jamie was the producer on Levison Wood’s recent Walking the Nile Channel 4 series and has also produced programmes in epic locations from Everest to Alaska. Jamie will be able to elucidate what it’s really like behind the scenes in some of the world’s wildest places, and the challenges of working in such politically and environmentally challenging conditions.
