This summer, the Italian alpine village of Livigno hosts the third edition of Adventure Awards Days, the international festival dedicated to adventure and exploration.
Every year adventurers of every description, whether they be mountaineers, explorers or independent travellers, congregate at the Adventure Awards Days festival to share their stories, their experiences and their passion. Adventure Awards Days is not an extreme sports event. Instead, it’s an event that inspires those attending to live life to the full and to experience the desire to try something new.
There will be seven days of meetings, workshops, performances, training camps and movies during which festival attendees will be able to get to know some of the leading lights of the outdoor world, and test their existing skills or perhaps learn something new in this pristine alpine environment.
New this year is BAM! – the European Bicycle Adventure Meeting. It’s a chance for all those who choose the bicycle as a means to travel and explore to share their passion.
Adventure Awards Days will take place in the centre of Livigno, in the heart of the alpine wilderness that surrounds it, at an altitude of over 3,600 meters.
The Programme Includes
International film festival
From July 27th to July 29th, a selection of the best adventure and exploration documentaries from all around the world will be shown each night, in collaboration with National Geographic and other major international festivals, like 5Point (USA) and Shaff (GB). The Adventure Awards Days festival will screen some Italian and international premieres and the creators of the films will be in attendance too. There are two prizes: Best Movie, and also Green Movie, which will award the film with the strongest environmental sensitivity.
Photographic trekking and workshop with ClikAlps
On 30th and 31st July, we have an event dedicated to trekking and photographic enthusiasts – a two-day workshop with Roberto Moiola and Giacomo Meneghello, of ClikAlps. Roberto and Giacomo are among the most popular mountain photographers in Europe. The two days include an overnight stay at altitude, in search of the perfect landscape photo, with detailed instruction on the use of light, filters and on the preparation of equipment needed for a hike like this.
BAM!
On Friday and Saturday, bicycle travellers and adventurers from all around Europe will arrive in Livigno for the inaugural BAM! event – the European Bicycle Adventure Meeting. BAM! will host events dedicated to those who choose a horizon, a pair of wheels and the wind in their face – a workshop dedicated to mechanics, one dedicated to photography “on the road”, and a collective cycle to Nietzsche’s home, in Engadina. During the BAM! party, we’ll offer a stage for everyone who wants to share their stores and there’ll be prizes for the best.
Best Adventurer and Best Storyteller
Every year the Adventure Awards reward those who best personify the soul of the festival. Firstly, the Greatest Adventurer, awarded to the most exciting adventure and the most involving experience. Also, we reward whoever we determine has best narrated his or her adventure, telling us not only about the journey, but also about the environment in which it takes place. The event will feature interviews and stories, music and words, and will include the assignment of the Golden Beard, the beard considered to be the symbol of every adventurer, man or woman, designed this year by Hideto Suzuki, Japanese artist.
