German photographer Klaus Fengler announced as Arco Rock Star climbing photography competition winner

The Arco Rock Star international climbing photography competition has announced German photographer Klaus Fengler its winner.

The two-day competition, which started on Saturday, 11th May in the Italian town of Arco near Lake Garda, brought together 10 professional and open teams from 5 countries to compete for the coveted title.

Each team, consisting of a photographer and two to three athletes, was sent out into Garda Trentino to scale its challenging limestone rocks and to take four photographs that capture their chosen climb.

Klaus Fengler’s photos were awarded by judges Zoe Hart and Vinicio Stefanello and the Arco Rock Star team for their creativity, photographic quality, consideration of landscape, portrayal of passion, and for their telling of a narrative.

Second place was awarded to Italian photographer Federico Ravassard for his creative and original set of photos, and Italian Matteo Pavana came in third place for his dramatic and exciting images. Luca Rigo was awarded in the open category.
