Arco Rock Star – gallery
InspirationGarda Trentino, one of the world’s climbing capitals, hosted nine professional photographers from five European countries for the two-day photography competition Arco Rock Star.
The jury, composed of photographer Giampaolo Calzà, National Geographic photographer Robbie Shone, planetmountain.com editor Nicholas Hobley, outdoor manager Marianna Zanatta and by Arco Rock Staff, awarded British photographer John Thornton first place in the ‘Pro’ category. It was awarded for John’s ability to portray the spirit of climbing as well as representing the athletic nature in harmony with the landscape. In his climbing team were Matteo Furlan and Francesco Zerbi. The second place was awarded to Giovanni Danieli from Italy and third place went to Matteo Mocellin (see a selection of their photographs below). The La Sportiva Anniversary Prize that celebrates ‘vintage’ climbing went to Matteo Pavana.
The first place in the OPEN category was won by Graziano Galvagni, awarded primarily for his creativity as well as for the quality of the two presented photographs.
The awards ceremony took place during the Adventure Awards Days, the International Festival of Exploration.
