inov-8 ROCLITE PRO G 400 GORE-TEXGear
inov-8 have just launched their toughest-ever hiking boot, the new ROCLITE PRO G 400 GORE-TEX. Jay Morton, former Special Forces operator and star on television’s SAS Who Dares Wins, tested the boot extensively on adventures in the Alps and the Lake District to help create the breakthrough boot, which combines innovative technology to provide the toughest grip and weather durability, in addition to outstanding comfort at only 400g.
The Lake District-based company have seen huge success in their famously durable footwear, thanks to their pioneering use of Graphene, the toughest material on earth, which gives the remarkable grip. The upper fabric of the new ROCLITE PRO G 400 has a Schoeller ceramic coating for the ultimate in protection.
Michael Price, COO of inov-8, who are based in the UK’s Lake District, said: ‘This is the first time Graphene and Schoeller have been combined in a footwear product and the results are incredible. Graphene-enhanced rubber delivers the world’s toughest grip and the toughness of ceramic technology is so good it is already trusted to help protect the International Space Station.’
With the recent dramatic rise in popularity for fastpacking and FKTs (Fastest Known Times) in the mountains, products that can deliver both durability and comfort, and still come in at a low weight, are surging in popularity, and inov-8 footwear have featured prominently in recent records including those from the likes of Jasmin Paris, Damian Hall, Nicky Spinks, and James Forrest.
inov-8 has made the ROCLITE PRO G 400 GORE-TEX their most cushioned hike boot to date and increased underfoot the level of protection, all without compromising on agility, which will be popular amongst this growing class of hikers and runners pursuing ‘far and fast’ adventures.
‘For those who want to hike fast and light in big mountains and seek adventure amid the toughest of terrains and environments, this is the boot for you,’ says Price. Adding to that, Jay Morton described the boots as ‘the lightest and most comfortable I’ve worn, and the tough grip ensures I can take on the most unpredictable terrain.’
Thanks to its collaboration with Graphene experts at The University of Manchester, inov-8 is the only brand in the world to use the Nobel Prize-winning material in sports footwear and has a patent pending on the technology. By infusing the world’s strongest material into their rubber, the brand has developed no-compromise outsoles for hiking, running and fitness that are both insanely sticky and incredibly tough wearing.
