Adventurer Leon McCarron has successfully completed the ‘Six Peaks Challenge’ with an added twist by riding a folding bike between each peak. Nineteen days, six climbs featuring Slieve Donard, Carrantoohill, Snowdon , Snaefell , Scafell, Ben Nevis and a 750 mile road to cycle twixt them.

One of the top names in the climbing world, Alex Honnold is trying his hand at something new. Later this year he will attempt to free solo a building on live television. Meanwhile, Dimitri Kieffer is set to continue his human powered circumnavigation of the globe. A journey which began in Alaska in 2005 when he walked, skied, and biked his way over 7,000 miles to Mongolia. The next stage to begin shortly is Ulaanbaatar to China via the trusted bicycle. Cameron Lawson and friend plan to travel 350 miles along Alaska’s Lost Coast using packrafts and fat tired bikes. They will depart on August 9th and arrive in Cordova over two weeks later. bikingthelostcoast.com. Ness Knight commences her Big British Adventure in nine days time – a whooping 1500 mile triathlon across Great Britain. A 215 mile Thames River swim, a 365 mile run across the South Coast and a 1,000 mile cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groat’s.

Also, later in August the winners of the first Sidetracked Adventure Fund will head off on their adventure. Chris Jones and his team are attempting to traverse the entire length of the Lyngen Alps. More news on this soon.

In September, Dr Mark de Rond and Anton Wright will row the length of the Amazon River. Six weeks later, they will hopefully be boasting the tagline of ‘first in history to achieve this feat’. Finally, Pro extreme snowboarder Chris Southwell has set himself a challenge to compete in 7 of the most demanding endurance events on 7 continents to prove that diabetes does not have to stop people from living their dreams. The 7C7A Challenge consists of the following events; the mHealth Grand Cycle Tour (Europe), 100 miles Himalaya stage race (Asia), Trans Andes Challenge (South America), Climb Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa) (largest group of diabetics to ever climb Kilimanjaro), Antarctic Ice Marathon (Antarctica), Coast to Coast (Australasia) and New York to Miami – cycling (North America).
