New on Sidetracked:

Slovenia: A Guide to the Alpe Adria Trail

Produced in Partnership with Slovenia Tourism

The Julian Alps, a vast mountain range in the Southern Limestone Alps, lie mostly in Slovenia, rising up to 2,864 m at Mount Triglav. Weaving through the very best of the mountain range, along river valleys and over mountain passes, across Alpine pastures and under plunging waterfalls, is the Slovenia section of the Alpe Adria Trail.

In our story, In the Kingdom of Goldhorn, we trace the trail from the mountain town of Kranjska Gora, over the Vršič Pass, along the breathtakingly turquoise Soča River, to the rambling hills of Slovenia’s wine country. In it, we look at life in these mountains, chatting to farmers and learning about the pervasive folklore of the region.

In The Alpe Adria Trail: A Sidetracked Guide, we offer up a step-by-step route guide, showcase the best places to stay and eat, and give you the practicalities of walking one of Europe’s most beautiful trails.
